ANASTASIA TSAI

SOPRANO

Originally from Taiwan, soprano, Anastasia Tsai, is currently based in Montréal, QC. She has a vast repertoire from opera, lieder, contemporary music, Broadway, Disney, jazz to pop songs.

 

Actor-Singer/Recitalist

Equally interested in exploring traditional repertoire, musical theatre and new works, Anastasia recently played Anya from Anastasia and Amalia from She Loves Me in regional theatre, performed calssical contemporary music for the Fondation PHI pour l’art contemporain, and premiered works for various composers and chember ensembles.

She and her outstanding musician friends together group a chamber ensemble back in Taiwan, featuring 'a chamber ensemble with a vocalist', which is frequently invited by Taiwan national governments to hold concerts from classical music, musical theatre to Disney repertoire. 

 

Songwriter

Craving for doing more creative projects, Anastasia writes art songs and makes arrangements for some of her favourite pieces. Currently the music she originated includes four Shakepeare's sonnets and one poem from Sung Dynasty. 

 

Illustrator

With love in art and mermaid, Anastasia keeps painting either traditionally or digitally, and has created an original character "The Little Mermaid Living in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue".  

 

Music and Art Background

Grew up training in music and fine art, Anastasia is a graduate of Taipei municipal University of Education's Music Department with a BFA in Music (majoring in classical voice performance, minoring in piano and violin) and has a postgraduate diploma in Art and Design
at Loughborough University, UK. She also lived in Vienna for one year acquiring further training in vocal techniques.

She won the 1st prize in the New York International Music Festival & Competition in Musical Theatre category in Taiwan in 2016.
